An overview of poker

Poker is quite unique as a casino table game because it features gamblers playing against each other, rather than gamblers playing against the house itself. The objective of the game is to get a hand of cards that trumps anybody else’s on the table, because in doing so you will win the pot in the middle. This pot is made up of all the bets that were made in that round, and aside from the blinds there are two or three other chances to place a bet in a round.

Poker has also been made famous by the art of the bluff, a tactic that advanced poker players use in order to trick their competitors into thinking that their hand is better than it is. If you pull a bluff off successfully the other players will drop out of the round, and you will be left to scoop the winnings, even though you have a weak hand.
