Chrome 99 is the latest update to the popular web browser which for starters has two digits in its name and is available from March 1. A new, jubilee 100th update is already at our doors because and have to be patient for a few weeks, but for now, Chrome 99 brings some interesting changes, which we bring below.

Chrome Gets Edge’s Shortcut to Download Content

Microsoft Edge is based on Chromium, but there are some differences when compared to Google Chrome. One of the ones that are immediately noticeable is the position where the processes of downloading various content – images, media, casino apps (those casinos that have such an option are listed here), etc. – are located. In Microsoft Edge, a shortcut to download content appears at the top of the toolbar, while in Google Chrome it’s positioned at the somewhat impractical place – at the bottom of the toolbar.

This item now changes its position on Chrome and will appear in the upper right corner. When you download something, a small blue icon will appear at the top of the toolbar. Once the download process is complete, it will change its color to gray and subsequently disappear. This icon is currently being worked on, so it’s possible that it will eventually contain a circle in its display that will be an indicator of the progress of the download process. If Chrome happens to literally copy a copy of Edge’s shortcut to download content, then it will be able to ‘hook’ to the toolbar.

Web Applications Can Use the So-Called Date Picker System

This feature was requested by developers, but it will undoubtedly improve the design of programs and offer them a breath of new air for ordinary users. The Date Picker system is a form of control that allows the user to select a date by entering it in the field provided or by using an availability calendar.https://masterpoker.shop

In Chrome, 99 developers can finally use the Date Picker system as a separate feature. Instead of having to search for CSS tools or widgets, Chrome 99 web apps can use Date Picker from your device. This upgrade can be tried at the following link: https://show-picker.glitch.me/demo.html.

Built-in Handwriting Recognition Tool

As early as Chrome 91 upgrades, Google began testing its built-in application programming interface (API) for handwriting detection. With it, developers can easily implement manuscript elements into their web applications. This application programming interface is now finalized with Chrome 99. In previous versions of the web browser, developers had to use various forms of software add-ons and integrations to use handwritten elements, but now it’s available directly from the desktop version of Chrome.

In practice, this means that developers will be able to more easily integrate notes or drawing elements into applications and that they will be able to work on different platforms without any problems.

Abolish Manifest v2 for Extensions That Block Ads

Google released the Manifest v3 application programming interface in late 2020, which is designed for usage with add-ons. The big upgrade that marked Manifest v3 is the replacement of the so-called webRequest API (application programming interface used by each extension to block ad content) with chrome.declarativeNetRequest application programming interface.

Manifest v2 is, therefore, slowly being abandoned in practice with the advent of Chrome 99.

What Else Is New?

Google now releases Chrome extensions every four weeks, which means that major changes to the popular web browser won’t be so common. However, users shouldn’t worry about this because the changes in Chrome 99 aren’t insignificant and really go in the direction of optimizing various processes on the web browser.

Some of the other changes that come with Chrome 99 are:

  • Web apps now support the ability to change the hue of the theme or background color in Chrome’s dark mode.
  • A model of text editing in CSS without previously defined patterns is presented.
  • CSS Cascade Layers is introduced: it allows authors to create layers that represent default elements, collections, themes, components, etc.
  • The application status interface for displaying battery status no longer supports unverified and uncertain sources such as e.g. HTTP sites.
